Support Groups There are many well-established support groups for individuals with cancer in the area. Please call Emerson’s department of social work services at 978-287-3178 for more information. The Emerson Hospital Breast Cancer Support Group provides emotional support and resource information to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center offers a variety of educational seminars and support groups to help patients and their families find the tools they need to regain a sense of control over their lives. Our support groups, which are geared to specific cancers and methods of treatment, allow patients to meet with one another and share information and moral support with the help of our staff to facilitate discussion. David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer
There are many long-term effects of childhood and adolescent cancer treatment. They may include heart problems, fertility problems, impaired growth, emotional difficulties, and learning disabilities. The clinic is a place where survivors can be checked for these and other conditions, as well as learn how to care for themselves to minimize future complications.
The services of the clinic are available to survivors of childhood or adolescent cancer who are concerned about the late effects of treatments. Patients must be at least two years off treatment and diagnosed at age 21 or younger.

The Mind/Body Medicine Program is a ten-week wellness program that introduces cancer patients to relaxation techniques, cognitive therapy, humor and music therapies, hope and spirituality, yoga, tai chi, and nutrition, including cancer-prevention diets and maintaining good nutrition during treatment.
